The system fails women long before they even see a doctor.

When research excludes women, the entire system suffers. Medical schools don’t teach what they don’t know. Treatment protocols aren’t designed for female bodies. Insurance doesn’t cover what hasn’t been studied. Public health campaigns leave out crucial education. And budget and policy decisions are made in the dark. That’s why a connected infrastructure is central to our mission.

After the birth of my second child I was in real need of pelvic floor therapy. I had to pay for everything out of pocket because my insurance company said that it was “not medically necessary.” That’s the system… in inaction.
Because the warning signs of a heart attack for men versus women are so ingrained, I still have to push medical professionals to take my symptoms seriously. Even though this is the leading cause of death for women and I have a serious family history.
After two consecutive miscarriages instead of further work up, the doctor’s response was “let her try again and if she has a third miscarriage we will refer.” I felt like I was not a human. Like my pain did not matter.
I have a significant auto-immune disorder which has been under-researched with how it impacts women, so treatment is not as effective as it should be. I have had to take long periods away from work, which has been an economic and emotional drain.
Health systems don’t consider all possible alleviations for symptoms - they are about medical intervention. Functional medicine and preventative care for women would be less of a financial strain, and not require worsening symptoms for intervention.

As an organization with a focus on tackling the changes needed across a complex and interconnected system, a bipartisan membership is crucial to this kind of change, so we have made the decision to not include abortion as a primary area of focus within our health initiatives.
No. We are not affiliated with any individual administration or any political party. We are an independent, nonpartisan organization focused solely on improving how women experience healthcare. Our coalition includes leaders with ties across the political spectrum, and we intentionally leverage those relationships to drive pragmatic, lasting change within the system.
